What is an Air to Water Heat Pump?
Heatpumps are not a new technology, they have been used very effectively in Europe and Scandinavia for over 40 years. An Air to Water Heatpump is a direct replacement for your existing Gas or Oil Boiler system. It comprises of an outdoor unit that looks very like an air conditioning unit which is connected to an indoor module inside your house that looks like a fridge which houses a hot water cylinder and a heatpump controller.
The Heatpump system will heat your radiator or underfloor heating system using its climate control system to ensure a constant 21 degrees in your house. It will also provide hot water on demand for your showers / taps 24/7.
The Heatpump system runs fully off electricity and are all tested at over 400% efficiency, meaning for every €1 euro you spend on electricity you will receive €4 worth of heat.
We will expertly design your radiators, underfloor heating and Controls systems to work seamlessly with the lower heating temperatures of the Air to Water heatpump.

Geothermal Heat Pumps

Geothermal Heat Pumps are extremely efficient reaching COP’s of nearly 5.0 or 500%. They also have the added advantage of not requiring an outdoor unit. The system comprises of an Indoor Heat Pump unit which is connected to two collector pipes. The collector pipes carry liquid called Brine and collect heat through a Borehole drilled down 150m into the earth. The liquid leaves the heat pump and travels down this borehole collecting heat from the earth which it brings back to the Geothermal heat pump located in your house. They are very popular in colder climates as the outside temperature doesn’t affect the performance of the
heatpump unlike its air to water brother. The only downside is they tend to be more
expensive.
Exhaust Air Heat Pumps
An Exhaust Air Heat Pump is a great solution for smaller new build houses and apartments. Exhaust Air Heat Pumps like the Nibe F735 do not require an outdoor unit. The system comprises of a fridge style unit located in your house. Ducting is run back to the heat pump from all the wet areas ( bathrooms / kitchen). The heat pump extracts the warm stale air from these areas and runs this air that is full of energy through the compressor cycle creating hot water for heating for your radiators / underfloor heating and also your hot water for your showers / taps. The heat pump is also acting as an extract ventilation system for the house which will satisfy Part F of the building regulations. Heating, Hot Water & Ventilation all from
one machine.

New Build Projects
Green-House have recognised that in order for a new build house to meet the strict
building regulations a house has to have some Renewable energy contribution helping the house’s energy requirements.
We feel the best option for a new build is an Air to Water heat pump system. it provides maximum levels of comfort and the cheapest running costs, in fact it’s a “no brainer”. Its also an extremely simple system for the end user to live with.
A new build house needs to be a minimum of an A3, this means the house has very low heat loss. We set up all our heat pumps to run 24/7 meaning you always have a warm house and always hot water.
Retrofitting / SEAI Grants
We are vastly experienced with older houses and fully set up to make the SEAI grant available to you. The SEAI grant requires a Heatpump installation to meet a set criteria.
The fabric of the house needs to come below 2.0 Heat loss indicator when the house gets a technical assessment by the Ber assessor. The radiators and underfloor heating system need to be sized to meet the heat loss & lower flow temperatures produced by a heat pump system.
We expertly design both the heat pump system and the radiators / underfloor heating system to meet the heat loss of each house. We will also look after the SEAI grant pack to ensure you can avail of your Heat Pump grant.
We have heat pumps even installed in listed buildings & churches. Every project is suitable for a Heatpump if designed correctly
