We are based in Deansgrange, so Dublin is not a service area we drive to, it is where we work every day. We have been installing here since 2006, from Blackrock and Dun Laoghaire on the south coast out to Swords and Malahide in the north county, and west to Tallaght and Blanchardstown.
Most of what we fit in Dublin is a 10 to 14 panel system on a standard semi-D, which is usually a single day on site. Housing stock varies more than people expect and it changes the job: the 1930s and 1950s estates around Drumcondra and Glasnevin have smaller, steeper roofs than the 1970s and 1980s builds further out, and the newer estates in Swords and Adamstown tend to have the largest unshaded south-facing area of anywhere we cover.
Two things are worth knowing before you plan a Dublin install. Chimneys and roof windows are common on the older stock and they shade more of the roof than the plan drawing suggests, so the usable area is often smaller than the total. And a good number of the coastal and city-centre properties sit in a conservation area or an Architectural Conservation Area, where the panels may need to go on a rear or side slope rather than the street elevation. We check both before quoting rather than after.
The SEAI grant is handled for you either way, and we use our own teams, so the crew that surveys the roof is the crew that fits it.
